Dr Laubscher graduated in 1974 as a civil engineer at the University of Stellenbosch (BSc BEng) and immediately entered the field of consulting engineering. After gaining valuable experience over a period of 6 years in the planning of civil services for townships, the design of water and purification works and the structural design of water retaining structures.
In 1980 he received a master’s degree (MEng) in water utilization (University of Stellenbosch) and in March 1987 he received his doctoral degree (DEng) in water utilization at the University of Pretoria.
Dr Laubscher now specializes in process design for water and wastewater treatment systems. He has gained valuable experience in the treatment of eutrophic water through the design of various Water treatment plants, treating water from inland rivers. He also designed Ozone Process plants for numerous Waterfront Estates, treating eutrophic water from various inland reservoirs.
His major interest in wastewater treatment lies with the design of nutrient removal activated sludge plants as well as key designs for the combined works systems and the disposal of waste sludges.
